The Los Angeles fashion scene is buzzing with the arrival of several new boutiques that are setting high standards with their innovative designs. This summer has seen a surge of exciting new stores, each offering a unique shopping experience. Among these, the recently opened Departamento boutique stands out with its strikingly futuristic metallic design. On Melrose Avenue, Farm Rio adds a vibrant touch to the street, while Toteme, a notable Swedish luxury brand, solidifies its presence alongside Acne Studios and Byredo. In Silver Lake, Deus ex Machina brings a rock ‘n’ roll vibe, and Represent attracts a youthful clientele with its modern aesthetic. Additionally, Ozma has chosen an eco-friendly location to highlight its commitment to sustainable fashion.

Toteme, which first launched in New York two years ago and recently opened a successful store in Palisades Village, has now debuted its first Los Angeles location on Melrose Avenue. This new store is ideally situated next to Acne Studios and Byredo, further cementing the Swedish influence in the area. Founded by style journalist Elin King and her partner Karl Lindman in 2014, Toteme’s boutique is designed by Swedish design studio Halleroed, known for their work on the brand’s flagship store in London.

The boutique’s facade, featuring large circular windows, presents a blend of timeless architecture with Art Deco influences. Inside, an arched corridor leads to a spacious, light-filled lounge where brushed stainless steel furniture displays handbags, black metal shelves hold shoes, and wall-mounted racks showcase the latest collections. A second corridor, adorned with ice-blue suede walls, features niches displaying graphic silhouettes in cream, khaki, and black, alongside soft floral prints and comfortable garments. The store also features giant ceramics and bronze sculptures. Toteme now operates 13 boutiques globally and is set to open a second New York location in early September.
