Hong Kong has the potential to emerge as a leading center for sustainability education within the fashion sector, according to Victor Fung Kwok-king, honorary chairman of the global supply chain management firm Li & Fung.

Fung suggests that the city is well-positioned to establish itself as a significant player in training professionals on sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in the fashion industry. “Hong Kong has the opportunity to create a new industry dedicated to sustainability education, which could elevate the city onto the global stage,” Fung remarked in a recent interview.

To advance this vision, Li & Fung, in collaboration with academics and researchers from local and international universities, hosted a workshop last week focused on integrating sustainability throughout the fashion supply chain. The event, which took place as part of Li & Fung’s fashion tech summit, featured 30 representatives from garment factories and retail brands across the region. The workshop was designed to explore how sustainability can serve as a competitive advantage in the industry.
