DP World, a global supply chain provider headquartered in Hong Kong, has announced its entry into the retail and fashion logistics sector with its latest acquisition of Cargo Services. This move marks a significant expansion for DP World, bringing its total workforce to over 115,000 employees across more than 800 locations worldwide.

Cargo Services, established in 1989, has been a pioneer in the logistics industry, particularly in China, where it was among the first foreign logistics service providers to enter the market. Over the years, the company has built a strong reputation as a market leader in origin services, specializing in moving goods efficiently from the factory floor directly to the customer’s door. With a presence in Greater China, Asia, Europe, South Africa, and the US, Cargo Services employs over 2,500 people.

DP World’s acquisition of Cargo Services will significantly enhance its global logistics capabilities. By the end of the year, the company is expected to operate more than 200 freight forwarding offices, covering up to 95% of global trade flows.

Cargo Services boasts an extensive portfolio of logistics solutions, including origin purchase order management, ocean and air freight, and warehousing. The company is particularly known for its sophisticated supply chain management services tailored to the retail and high-fashion sectors in key markets such as the US, UK, Europe, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Additionally, Cargo Services has expanded its offerings to include specialized cruise logistics services on a global scale.

This strategic acquisition positions DP World as a formidable player in the retail and fashion logistics sector, allowing it to leverage Cargo Services’ expertise and extensive network to better serve its global customer base.
