Singapore – During this year’s Singapore Grand Prix, Visa Cash App RB (VCARB) and the fashion brand HUGO unveiled Formula One’s first fashion-inspired livery in over three decades. This custom denim design honors HUGO’s signature style and is the first of its kind since the renowned “united colors” livery of Benetton in the 1990s.
The collaboration extends beyond the car itself. The VCARB garage featured a complete denim theme, while drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda sported bespoke racing suits alongside HUGO outfits throughout the weekend. Ricciardo expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Over the years, we’ve seen fashion brands collaborate with F1 teams and drivers, particularly regarding outfits, but we’ve never witnessed one take this step by fully immersing themselves on the track. We’re raising the stakes and paving the way for brands to explore new opportunities. I believe this will encourage more fashion houses to embrace fashion-inspired liveries.”
Tsunoda, a fashion enthusiast, views the partnership as a bold statement, emphasizing, “It truly reflects our identity and creativity. At VCARB, we aim to connect with fans across all industries: art, music, and fashion.”
This collaboration represents a unique moment in Formula One, where fashion and high performance intersect, continuing a trend that is gaining momentum in both high fashion and streetwear.
