Vogue India is set to launch a public exhibition in Mumbai featuring the work of 40 local designers, highlighting the challenges and opportunities they encounter in the fashion industry.
In recent weeks, notable designer Rahul Mishra announced a limited-edition collaboration with Italian brand Tod’s, while Anita Dongre unveiled a partnership with Mattel to create the first-ever ‘Diwali Barbie.’ Additionally, Vaishali S, celebrated for her use of handwoven fabrics, has opened a new store in Paris.
The Vogue Forces of Fashion exhibition, themed “Power of the Runway,” will take place from October 14 to 16 at Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke. The event will present rare archival pieces, handcrafted artworks, reimagined signature prints, and miniature couture, aiming to blend fashion with art. Rochelle Pinto, Vogue India’s head of editorial content, noted that many designers are now maintaining archives, a practice traditionally associated with European designers. “To know how to go forward, you must know your past,” she stated.
Sponsored by Ajio, Reliance Retail’s digital commerce initiative, the three-day exhibition will feature works from both emerging and established designers, including Gaurav Gupta and Manish Malhotra. Vineeth Nair, founder and CEO of Ajio, remarked, “This exhibition brings a new dimension to the fashion narrative of modern India and marks a deep appreciation for the evolving identity of Indian style.”
