Hermès Experiences Slowest Quarter in Years Amid Luxury Sector Challenges

Hermès, a luxury brand known for its resilience, is anticipated to show signs of the broader industry slowdown in its upcoming third-quarter results. The company, renowned for its iconic Birkin bag, is expected to report its weakest quarterly revenue growth since late 2021 when it releases sales figures on Thursday.

Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Deborah Aitken noted that “Hermès’ undisputed lead in luxury shopper resilience faces its biggest test of recent quarters.” Analysts project an organic sales growth of 10.5 percent for the third quarter, a figure Aitken describes as potentially “optimistic.”

While Hermès outperformed its competitors in the second quarter—when LVMH fell short of revenue growth estimates and Burberry Group Plc issued profit warnings—its ability to withstand the pressures affecting the luxury market is now under scrutiny.
