Fendi will celebrate its centenary next February with a coed fashion show at Milan Fashion Week, WWD has confirmed. The event will be led by Silvia Venturini Fendi, the brand’s artistic director for accessories and menswear.
Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou, CEO of Fendi, recently informed the brand’s teams about the milestone event, which will also mark the reopening of Spazio Fendi. The venue, located on Via Solari in Milan, is undergoing renovations and serves as the Roman brand’s longtime runway theater and showroom.
Milan Fashion Week is scheduled to take place from February 25 to March 3, 2024.
The news comes amid significant changes at Fendi, including the recent departure of CEO Serge Brunschwig and British designer Kim Jones. Jones stepped down as artistic director of Fendi’s haute couture, ready-to-wear, and fur collections for women earlier this month but will continue in his role as artistic director for Dior’s men’s collections.
Both Fendi and Dior are part of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the French luxury conglomerate. Angeloglou, who succeeded Brunschwig as Fendi’s CEO in June, reports directly to Sidney Toledano, an adviser to LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault.
Silvia Venturini Fendi, who is credited with designing the iconic Baguette bag in 1997, has led the menswear collections since 2000. She is the granddaughter of Adele Fendi, who co-founded the brand in 1925 with a leather goods shop in Rome. Venturini Fendi took the lead creatively after the death of Karl Lagerfeld in 2019, who had worked with Fendi for over 50 years. In addition to her design work, she collaborates with her daughter Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Fendi’s jewelry creative director, who was also a key muse for Jones during his tenure at the brand.
