Bape and Adidas are reintroducing the ’90s-inspired Orketro sneaker, a model that first launched in 2020. The collaboration brings fresh designs to the retro running aesthetic, featuring Bape’s iconic shooting star logo on the side of the shoe.
Three new colorways will be available. One has a vibrant combination of yellow, green, and blue, reminiscent of a Sprite soda can. Another features a more muted mix of purples, while the third comes in classic black, white, and grey. All versions also include a subtle Cloud Camo pattern on the overlays, adding texture to the design. Notably, the Adidas stripes, previously seen across the toes, have been removed for a cleaner look.
This release marks the latest step in the resurgence of retro running sneakers. Adidas first launched the Orketro in the early stages of this trend, with Sean Wotherspoon releasing three colorways last year, including one exclusive for friends and family. In 2023, Adidas also introduced a version 2.0 of the Orketro, with slight changes to the design and updated cushioning. While neither the original nor the 2.0 model are currently available from Adidas, this new collaboration with Bape may signal a new push for the retro-inspired sneaker.
2024 has already been a busy year for Bape and Adidas, who celebrated 20 years of partnership in 2023. The Japanese streetwear brand has also been busy releasing sneakers, including collaborations with Damian Lillard on the Dame 9 and a quirky re-release of an obscure ’90s Adidas skate shoe. The shoe’s name, “Lawsuit,” humorously nods to Bape’s past legal battle with Nike, which has since been settled.
The Bape x Adidas Orketro will launch on November 15, available on Adidas’ website. Bape is expected to hold its own drop as well. While the price has not been confirmed, the Orketro typically sells for around $160.
