Kivanci, a new fashion design studio, has opened in downtown Evanston at 1577 Maple Ave, bringing a fresh wave of style to the area. The boutique celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, showcasing elegant gowns and vintage jewelry.
Owner and designer Leen Gundogdu described the studio’s style as a blend of timeless elegance and modern trends, with a strong emphasis on personalized styling. “Our focus is to create looks that reflect each client’s unique vision,” Gundogdu said.
More than just a dress boutique, Kivanci offers custom design, alterations, and styling services for photoshoots, weddings, and other special events. While the studio tailors each look to the client’s needs, its specialty lies in gowns and formal wear.
“My designs are luxury items, crafted with the finest fabrics to ensure top-quality results,” Gundogdu explained.
Despite holding a degree in archaeology, Gundogdu’s passion has always been fashion. “I’ve loved dressing up in fancy hats since I was five,” she shared. “Fashion feels natural to me, and it’s a way to express myself.” She particularly enjoys working with fabrics like tulle, organza, and lace to create one-of-a-kind pieces that align with her clients’ visions.
The grand opening event was a chance for guests to view the stunning creations on display.
