Miami’s iconic fashion scene is set for a major makeover as Miami Fashion Week kicks off today. This year promises to be hotter than ever, and we’re not just talking about the weather—it’s the style that’s stealing the spotlight.

Recognized as the second-largest fashion week in the Americas, Miami Fashion Week is a major event on the global fashion calendar. Alongside fashion powerhouses like Milan, London, Paris, and New York, the event showcases the latest trends, where innovation and glamour meet.

Lourdes Fernandez-Velasco, from Strut a Pose, emphasized the event’s international standing: “Miami Fashion Week is the second-largest in the Americas. We’re included in the important dates, alongside Milan, London, Paris, and New York.”

This year’s event features top-tier models and exclusive collections from around the globe. But it’s not just about fashion—it’s a celebration of Miami’s unique energy, combining art, sustainability, innovation, and music into one spectacular week.

“We’re adding a lot of new elements this year, including hosting the event in November for the first time,” Fernandez-Velasco said. “We have new designers and exciting editions on the calendar.”

One standout local brand showcasing its designs this year is Sigal, a resort wear brand born in Miami. Sigal Cohen, the founder of Palm Chic, is making her debut at Miami Fashion Week.

“It’s my first time showing here,” Cohen said. “Sigal is all about resort wear, and every collection reflects Miami’s spirit.”

Cohen’s designs are inspired by hand-painted watercolor and ink-based art, combining tropical prints with Americana influences. The collection is all about sunshine, beachy vibes, and fashionable flair.

“You’ll see lots of paisley and ombre prints—think sunrises,” Cohen explained. “The Sigal woman embraces adventure with grace, wherever she goes.”

The runway features models Antonella and Maggie from Select Model, who will wear the latest pieces from the collection.

Sigal is more than just a Miami-based brand; it’s an invitation to bring a taste of paradise to the world. “Miami is my muse,” Cohen said. “I want people to know this isn’t just for Miami—it’s something they can take with them wherever they go.”
