Avee Charles, a young fashion designer from Pennsylvania, is making waves in the global fashion scene with her designs inspired by the vibrant music of 1990s Philadelphia.
Charles describes her hometown as the “home of Brotherly Love,” highlighting influential artists like Boyz II Men, Jazmine Sullivan, and Jill Scott as key inspirations in her life. “I grew up on those people,” she said.
At just 19 years old, Charles began her journey in fashion and has since emerged as one of the newest designers to watch during New York Fashion Week. Her brand, AVEEATION, reflects her contemporary style and unique vision.
Avee’s passion for fashion started early; she learned to sew from her grandmother at the age of six. After years of honing her skills, her big break came in 2022 when SHEIN X, a global fashion brand, showcased her designs.
Recently, she relaunched a men’s collection in partnership with Off Script, an AI technology app. Despite her cutting-edge approach to fashion, Charles remains grounded and proud of her Philadelphia roots.
Reflecting on her journey, she noted the challenges she faced: “A lot of the doors that closed on me, it’s because God had bigger plans,” she said. Her hard work has paid off, leading to features in prestigious publications like Harper’s Bazaar and Elle magazine.
