The 2025/26 Autumn/Winter haute couture collection, carefully presented by Chanel’s creative studio, constructs a dreamlike theatrical image by cleverly playing with changes in size, length and proportion. Under the glass dome of the Grand Palais in Paris, an art installation created by set designer Willo Perron dances on the ground and soars freely in the air. Set against the backdrop of his giant black ribbons, this series draws inspiration from them and completely changes the viewer’s perception.
Following this creative vision, the collection’s looks emerge: a short jacket in blue, white and pink tweed paired with exaggerated floor-length trousers; a loose-fitting poplin shirt that reaches the ankle; a little black tweed jacket with delicate braided piping that transforms into a long overcoat dress embellished with jeweled buttons; and a shawl that integrates the jacket’s cuffs.
From bows, ribbons, pearls to flowers, the collection reinterprets some of the brand’s beloved iconic elements. Bows of various sizes bloomed on the collars and cuffs of shirts and dresses, clustered around necklaces, and adorned the cuffs of a shimmering black down jacket and tracksuit trousers. A long white knitted ribbon wraps around the black sweater, ending in a large bow at the shoulder. Other weighty or cutout (hollowed out) bows add chic accents to dresses, cardigans and sweaters. The heel is designed with a single pearl; the cross-body bag is shaped like an oversized pearl necklace, and the jewelry set is decorated with gorgeous rhinestones. The entire series boldly uses size and proportion to create a lively illusion effect.
In order to vividly present the illusion effect, this series also tried multi-layered matching techniques. Among them is a three-piece garnet red tweed suit with a very short jacket lined in bright red silk, a wrap skirt and bell-bottom trousers. Another bronzed look combined a blouse and skirt buttoned over trousers. The third outfit consists of a sleeveless fitted vest and an ivory white slit long skirt with an outer miniskirt.
This collection finds a subtle intersection between contrast and balance: a champagne gold and black and white tweed jacket is paired with a ruffled shawl, and its black and white gauze material creates a looming beauty; a beige trouser suit is worn over a black gauze shirt and long skirt; another look wears a long white tulle princess-sleeved shirt over a beige jacket dress. Under the light perspective effect, the contours and lines of the shape are cleverly layered, showing a flexible appearance. Sophistication and elegance are also translated into different forms in this collection, such as chiffon jeans, tweed-like silk fabrics, flowing ribbon pattern prints, and black organza hooded jackets decorated with bows.
The collection also features ultra-feminine silhouettes, such as sock-style ankle boots or shoes with satin bouillonné pleats on the uppers. The detachable ruff collar in the shape of a corolla, the black wool lace trench coat carefully spliced with artificial fur, and the black sweater decorated with three-dimensional white petal breasts all infuse this series with aesthetic poetry.
Chanel’s 2025/26 autumn/winter haute couture collection is inseparable from fairy tales, creating a world where exquisite craftsmanship and beautiful imagination are intertwined, demonstrating the incomparable and elegant charm of the Chanel brand symbol.
