Chanel Beads has released a re-edition of “Corners,” the lead single from LEYA’s latest EP, I Forget Everything. The song was released alongside a DIY co-directed music video starring model Mariah Morvant, as the two artists tour to promote their new album due in 2024.
Shane Lavers of Chanel Beads reflects on the song: “When Maya McGrory and I moved to New York, LEYA were our heroes. Their music took over the stage and got people going in a way that no one else could. When re-writing this song, I tried to create a similar feeling to the moments before and after their performance. It’s like having a premonition of something and wondering how it will play out. Zachary Paul added violin and Maya sang along with me. Every idea we tried to record on this song was used in some way.”
Chanel Beads’ debut album, Your Day Will Come, is a microcosm of modern life – frontman Shane Lavers’s bold attempt at experimental pop, combining lo-fi synth textures, live instrumentation and evocative vocals. The album was released last April via Jagjaguwar,
Fresh off a national tour—including support from prolific New York multi-instrumentalists More Eaze and an appearance at Knoxville’s renowned Big Ear Festival—Chanel Beads will play a special headlining show at Brooklyn’s 99 Scott before heading to the UK and Europe for select dates and festivals this summer.
LEYA has already hit the road, departing in Kingston, New York on April 8th, playing parts with Circuit des Yeux and Deli Girls, and heading to New York on May 16th, playing with YHWH Nailgun and DJ E. Vanessa Bedoret will also be supporting their international tour.
