Dior staged its Pre-Fall 2025 show in a garden at Toji Temple in Kyoto, Japan. The evening show was lit up by cherry blossom trees, while Ichiko Aoba’s Coloratura provided a serene soundtrack. Guests included actresses Anna Sawai and Lily James for the destination show.
For the Pre-Fall 2025 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri paid tribute to the Maison’s historical ties to Japan. In the early days of Dior, Monsieur Dior designed collections inspired by Japanese gardens and using brocades from the Dragon Village weaving.
In 1953, Dior became the first haute couture house to show its collections in Japan. Dior’s ties to Japan continued in the decades that followed, with John Galliano taking inspiration from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Madama Butterfly, set in Nagasaki, for the Dior Spring/Summer 07 couture collection.
For her latest Dior collection, Chiuri incorporated prints and traditional silhouettes that play a big part in the brand’s connection to Japan.
