Recently, Dior held an opening reception at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, and held a grand event of the “Christian Dior: Dream Designer” exhibition from April 19 to July 13. Bringing together a fashion feast of heritage, creativity and multiculturalism, DDP has been transformed into a dazzling event where fashion and architecture blend together.
The opening reception was attended by Star Ping, Dior’s global brand ambassador Jisoo, and celebrities such as Han So Hee, Kim Yuna, Mingyu, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, Park Solomon (Solomon Park) and actor Nam Joo Hyuk.
Following the success of the first exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, the “Christian Dior: Dream Designer” exhibition has toured London, Shanghai, Chengdu, New York, Doha, Tokyo and Riyadh, and the latest stop has landed at DDP in Seoul.
Curated by fashion historian Florence Müller, in collaboration with Shohei Shigematsu, partner of the world-renowned architectural firm OMA, an immersive spatial narrative was created to present Dior’s nearly 75 years of brilliant creative process.
The exhibition reviews Dior’s contemporary design process from the “New Look”, focusing on Mr. Dior’s passion for wedding dresses, workshop crafts and balls, exhibiting classics and magnificent archives of haute couture uniforms, and dialogues with the works of Korean artists Hyun Joo Kim, Soo Sunny Park and Zadie Xa, integrating into the local culture of Seoul.
The “Dior Lady Art” and “Lady Dior As Seen By” projects also showcased 26 Lady Dior bags reshaped by Korean artists for the first time, reshaping the connection between Dior and Korea. Among them, architecture and space design are also a highlight. Let’s take a look at the key points of space design.
