Cairns, Queensland — The Cairns Cup Carnival is set to make a significant fashion statement in 2024, with an elevated focus on style and thematic flair. This year’s event promises to be unforgettable, featuring spring and vintage themes over two action-packed weekends.

In collaboration with its long-term fashion partner, Myer Cairns, the Cairns Jockey Club is enhancing the fashion stakes with a fresh vintage theme, challenging local fashion enthusiasts on August 17 and 24. The carnival’s Myer Cairns Style Stakes are offering a substantial $30,000 in prizes, aiming to raise the bar for style entries.

The first weekend, August 17, will spotlight springtime themes. Categories to be judged include Contemporary Lady of the Day, Classic Lady of the Day, Best Dressed, and Stylish Couple of the Day.

The second weekend, August 24, shifts focus to a nostalgic flair with the theme “A Vintage Affair.” This segment will feature five additional categories: Stylish Lady of the Day, Classic Lady of the Day, Stylish Gentleman of the Day, Couple of the Day, and Millinery Award.

Cairns Cup Carnival ambassadors Tina and Brett Cahill have shared their fashion insights for this year’s event. “We’re thrilled to be ambassadors for the Cairns Jockey Club and to have Myer Cairns as a major sponsor again,” Ms. Cahill said. “Our vintage theme encourages a classic style, so think pearls, brooches, and pencil skirts for women, and fitted suits, vintage hats, and canes for men.”

Mr. Cahill added, “A cane and a scarf would be perfect accessories to enhance a vintage outfit for men.”

The Cahills emphasized their enthusiasm for Myer Cairns’ involvement, noting that the store offers a wide range of stylish options. “We’re excited for everyone to explore Myer’s fantastic collection,” Ms. Cahill said.

With these updates, the Cairns Cup Carnival is poised to set a new standard in race day fashion, promising a spectacular display of style and elegance.
