Value fashion, a long-standing presence in India through unbranded apparel sold in local stores, is now experiencing a surge in demand. According to Akash Agarwal, Whole Time Director at V2 Retail Ltd., the current decade is set to favor value fashion retailers. V2 Retail, a ₹1,100 crore chain, operates 129 stores in tier 2 and tier 3 towns, offering affordable clothing. Agarwal’s optimism is bolstered by his brand’s impressive 37% same-store sales growth in the first quarter of this year, positioning V2 Retail on track to achieve a turnover of ₹1,500 crore by FY2025.
The growth of value fashion is further supported by the rise of new affordable retail formats, which has increased consumer interest in mass-priced, trendy branded fashion. Value fashion brands are meeting the demand for on-trend clothing at accessible prices, driving the expansion of this segment in India’s apparel industry.
