TOKYO — On May 24, a pop-up store in Tokyo’s bustling Shibuya district saw an unprecedented surge in foot traffic as young Japanese consumers flocked to witness the debut of South Korean fashion brand Matin Kim in Japan. The event, held at the new Matin Kim pop-up store, was organized by Japanese retail powerhouse Parco in partnership with Hyundai Department Store.

The launch event drew more than 3,000 visitors, setting a new record for attendance at a Korean fashion pop-up store in Japan. This significant turnout highlights the growing influence and appeal of Korean fashion among Japanese youth.

Over the subsequent two months, pop-up stores showcasing Matin Kim, along with ten other Korean fashion brands, collectively achieved impressive sales figures, totaling 3.3 billion won, approximately $2.8 million. This surge in sales underscores the increasing popularity of Korean fashion trends and the effective role of new retail platforms in driving cross-border fashion enthusiasm.
