Mendel’s New Fashion Atelier: A Family Collaboration Brings Fresh Vision

A wedding dress marked the beginning of a new venture for renowned fashion designer Gilles Mendel and his daughter, Chloé. Their collaborative effort in designing Chloé’s gown for her marriage to rock star Billy Corgan proved so rewarding that it inspired them to continue working together. This collaboration has culminated in the creation of House of Gilles, their new fashion atelier in New York City.

Chloé Mendel, known for her eco-friendly luxury outerwear brand Maison Atia and Madame ZuZu’s in Highland Park, shared her enthusiasm about their new venture. “The process of creating my wedding gown with my father was incredibly fulfilling, which led us to establish House of Gilles,” she said.

Gilles Mendel elaborated on the atelier’s concept, stating, “Our goal is to turn people’s dream gowns into reality through a specialized and collaborative approach. We believe that visiting our atelier is essential for brides-to-be and their mothers. Many come to New York, only to face exorbitant prices from major brands for a fraction of the red-carpet experience that House of Gilles offers.”

The launch of House of Gilles by Gilles and Chloé Mendel, who are fifth and sixth-generation members of the J. Mendel fashion dynasty, comes as a refreshing change for those who feel that personal touches have been diminishing in the fashion industry.
