LANCASTER – VeloCity 2024, a celebration of local creativity, sold out its tickets within two weeks, according to Kathlene Carroll Sullivan, social media and engagement manager at the Lancaster City Alliance.
Since its inception in 2015, VeloCity has attracted hundreds of attendees to Tellus360 for an evening filled with gourmet food, drinks, music, and fashion. This year’s event took place on Thursday and featured popular elements such as a cocktail competition, a local fashion show, and a silent auction.
Proceeds from the event support the alliance’s programs aimed at enhancing Lancaster’s economic vitality and supporting local small businesses. “VeloCity showcases many of those businesses,” noted Alex Otthofer, the alliance’s community engagement manager, emphasizing that participants—including cocktail competitors, fashion models, and food vendors—are all sourced from the local community.
Last year’s event raised approximately $47,000, and both Otthofer and Sullivan believe this year’s edition is poised to match or exceed that amount.
Otthofer expressed his enthusiasm for the fashion show, describing it as “super cool” to see friends and neighbors walking the runway, adding, “There’s nothing like it in Lancaster.” Sullivan highlighted the cocktail competition as her favorite, which is judged by a panel of local experts.
The fashion show featured designs from Basura Thrift Boutique, Ellicott & Co., EsoArts Lancaster, 14th Boutique, Hooked ‘N Sewn, In White, Larkstone, and Prism Thrift. Performances included Evita Colon, Mambojaz Dance Co., and Suge, with DJ Major Vibes providing the soundtrack for the evening.
In the cocktail competition, Weston Fetterolf of Decades Lancaster took first place, followed by Jamie Graybill from Proof of Lancaster in second, and Jen Splain from Passerine in third. The People’s Choice cocktail award was given to Austin Grzymala from Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse.
