Australian media outlet Fashion Journal is set to return to print, with its first issue available in Melbourne and Sydney starting October 14. This marks a significant revival for the publication, which ceased its print runs in February 2020.
The new print edition will be released quarterly and will remain free to the public. Owned by Melbourne-based Furst Media, Fashion Journal has been delivering editorial content since 1991 and also maintains an online presence. The magazine covers a diverse range of topics, including fashion, beauty, music, lifestyle, and health.
Kris Furst, managing director of Furst Media, expressed enthusiasm for the relaunch, stating, “The time’s right for us to bring FJ back to print. What started as a pandemic-induced hiatus evolved into a digital powerhouse, but print is making a comeback. The Fashion Journal we’re relaunching this October is set to dazzle.”
Furst highlighted that this premium fashion magazine will be unique as a free publication, aiming to re-establish its presence in salons, boutiques, and cafes across both cities. The contributors include a mix of editors, photographers, stylists, writers, designers, and models, with a focus on early-career creatives.
Managing editor Giulia Brugliera noted, “Fashion Journal has a long and vibrant history in print, spanning over 30 years. It has always been a launchpad for creatives in the Australian fashion industry, and I’m proud that this next iteration will honor that legacy.”
The publication will be distributed to numerous venues, including clothing boutiques, vintage stores, hair and beauty salons, wellness centers, and selected cafes and bars in Melbourne and Sydney.
