A stunning array of traditional clothing designed by artisans from the Yi ethnic group in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, captivated spectators during a fashion show held at Beijing’s Bell and Drum Towers on Sunday. The collection, which features intricate Yi embroidery and designs inspired by green peacocks, had previously garnered acclaim at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year.
With a heritage spanning over 1,700 years, the traditional clothing-making techniques of the Chuxiong Yi ethnic group were recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2014, highlighting the enduring significance of their craftsmanship.
