Hoboken Hosts “Social Fabric: A Thrifted Fashion Show” to Benefit Scholarship Fund.

HOBOKEN, NJ – This year’s “Social Fabric: A Thrifted Fashion Show” in Hoboken showcased sustainable fashion trends from around the world. The event, hosted by St. Mary Advocates Inc., the city’s only charity thrift store, highlighted curated outfits inspired by global destinations.

Models strutted down the runway wearing looks based on the fashion of various countries, all sourced from donations to the thrift store. The collection featured items from renowned designers such as Kate Spade, Diane von Furstenberg, Moschino, Alice & Olivia, and Jil Sander, as well as popular brands like Anthropologie, Lucky Brand, Athleta, and Guess.

“We wanted to reintroduce ourselves to the community, celebrate our organization, connect with locals, raise funds for the scholarship program, and offer a fun, thrifted fashion show,” said Nita Patel, board member and spokesperson for St. Mary Advocates.

The event’s proceeds will support the St. Mary Advocates scholarship fund, which helps students pursuing careers in nursing and other health-related fields. Founded over 50 years ago, St. Mary Advocates operates the all-volunteer charity thrift shop located at 536 Garden St. in Hoboken.

“Since launching our scholarship program in 1978, we’ve awarded nearly $250,000, helping to shape the future of healthcare in our community,” said Renee Turonis, president of St. Mary Advocates.

Attendees enjoyed wine, beer, and small plates from Hoboken Catering, along with raffles for local restaurant gift cards and a silent auction featuring designer clothing and accessories.
