Moncler has built its reputation on reinvention since its founding in 1952, transforming the humble puffer coat into a luxury status symbol. In recent years, the brand has collaborated with fashion houses like Valentino and Simone Rocha to reimagine this iconic garment, creating designs such as colorful puffer coat gowns.
Earlier this year, Moncler showcased its Grenoble collection in St. Moritz, where models like Emily Ratajkowski and Adut Akech wore shearling coats with oversized rounded lapels, resembling glam neck pillows. Last month, the brand held its “City of Genius” event in Shanghai, which featured high-fashion moments with stars like Rihanna and collections by designers such as Rick Owens. Today, Moncler continues its journey of innovation with the third installment of Moncler Re/Icons.
For the past three years, Moncler Re/Icons has celebrated the brand’s most iconic designs by reinterpreting them. In 2022, the brand revamped its Maya Jacket, a short down jacket with glossy nylon and boudin quilting. Last year, it reimagined the 1954 Karakorum cotton hooded down coat in three unique variations. This year, the focus is on the Verone style.
The Verone is a reversible, glossy short down jacket that offers a modern twist on the classic ’80s puffer. It’s a versatile piece, with removable sleeves that turn it into a puffer vest.
Moncler’s Re/Icons now introduces two updated versions of the Verone: the Verone Opus and Verone AI. The Verone Opus takes the puffer to new lengths, literally, with a full-length design in black and white, perfect for formal occasions. The sleek, coated nylon fabric sweeps the floor, and the stand collar adds an elegant touch to the neckline. As with previous designs, the sleeves can be removed, creating a dramatic puffer vest.
The Verone AI, as its name suggests, was partially designed using digital intelligence to exaggerate the classic boxy silhouette of the ’80s. It features larger boudin quilting for an oversized look, crafted from soft, tear-resistant coated nylon with a matte finish. Both the collar and sleeves are detachable. These two puffer jackets push the boundaries of style while staying true to Moncler’s distinctive identity.
