PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — Grace Harrison, a 14-year-old eighth grader from Prince George’s County, is set to participate in the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 16th Annual Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show this Saturday in Denver, Colorado.

The event is the largest fundraiser for Down syndrome in the world, with proceeds supporting life-saving research and medical care. Funds benefit organizations like the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, the Colorado University Alzheimer’s and Cognition Center, and the Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome.

In addition to the runway show, celebrities such as Jessica Biel, Woody Harrelson, Laura Linney, Caterina Scorsone, and John C. McGinley will make appearances at the event.

Grace, an honor roll student who enjoys math, has been described by her family as observant, funny, caring, adventurous, and competitive. She loves traveling, going to the beach, and is an avid fan of K-pop and The Masked Singer. Grace also competes on a cheerleading team, and earlier this year, her team won their division at The Summit National Cheer Competition at Disney World.

“Grace is thrilled to be part of the fashion show,” said her mother, Ivonia Harrison. “She’s been practicing her moves and is excited to hit the runway. She can’t wait to have fun and make new friends.”

Grace’s father, James, learned about the event and saw it as a great opportunity for the family. “We were really impressed by the work GLOBAL does,” he said. “With its focus on improving the lives of people with Down syndrome, we knew this was a special opportunity for Grace.”

The Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show attracts over 1,400 guests from around the world each year. This year, 18 models with Down syndrome will take the runway, each paired with a celebrity partner.

Grace and her family are looking forward to being part of an event that is not only a celebration of talent and beauty but also supports a meaningful cause.
