HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Fashion Show will make its long-awaited return to the Gorge on November 15, after an 11-year hiatus. This year’s event will raise funds for a local family whose 2-year-old son was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Organized by local businesses and community leaders, including Jen Dillard Real Estate, the event aims to raise money for the Hulett-Mahaffy family. The couple, Hannah Hulett and Benji Mahaffy, learned in July that their son, Graham, has leukemia. Since then, the family has been commuting to Portland for his treatment at Randall Children’s Hospital. To support the family during this difficult time, funds raised will go toward securing temporary housing near the hospital to ensure they can stay close to Graham as he receives treatment.

The fashion show, which will be held at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn, is set to begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Cathy Carter, who has organized fundraisers for the past two decades, is once again leading the event, having come out of retirement to do so. Carter, alongside Jen Dillard and Gavin McAlpine, will be emceeing the evening.

“It’s going to be a really fun night,” said Carter. “There’s great fashion, great music, and lots of energy. Some participants will perform dance routines, while others will model the latest styles. It’s all about having a good time and supporting a great cause.”

The evening will also feature a live auction with a variety of items, including artwork, a $500 La Mer skincare package, and a $100 gift card to local restaurant Parts and Labor.

Tickets for the event are selling quickly and can be purchased online through Eventbrite at this link.

For those who cannot attend, donations to the Hulett-Mahaffy family can also be made through their GoFundMe page at this link.

Local merchants from Bingen, White Salmon, Hood River, and The Dalles, along with volunteers and sponsors, are all coming together to make this event a success and provide much-needed support for the Hulett-Mahaffy family during a challenging time.
