Kim Kardashian may have just revived a Millennial fashion trend after sharing a recent life update with her followers.
The Kardashian-Jenner family’s fans are known for keeping a close watch on their social media for the latest trends. Kim’s latest Instagram post appears to signal the return of a beloved style from the Y2K era.
Though the belly button piercing has never truly disappeared, it has become less common in recent years, especially since the days of low-rise jeans, Von Dutch caps, and slogan tees. However, Kim Kardashian’s recent post could signal a shift in the trend.
In her latest Instagram photo dump, the 44-year-old SKIMS founder shared a collection of eight photos, giving fans a glimpse into her life. The set included family moments, a selfie, a vintage car interior, and a self-care photo with her daughter, Chicago. However, one image stood out to fans.
In the fifth photo, Kim (or someone else) is seen wearing grey track pants and lifting her shirt to reveal a belly button piercing. The photo sparked mixed reactions, with one Instagram user writing, “I love the bellybutton piercing!” while another reacted with, “Piercing???!! Nooooooooooo omg.” A third commenter simply asked, “Is that Kim’s belly piercing?”
It remains to be seen whether belly button piercings will make a full comeback this season.
Meanwhile, the debate over fashion trends between Millennials and Gen Z continues. While Gen Z has popularized baggy jeans and cargo pants, many Millennials are holding on to wardrobe staples from their own coming-of-age years—like black leggings.
The conversation began on Reddit, where one user asked, “What’s your ‘old person’ hill you’ll die on?” One user humorously replied, “My black leggings will have to be pulled from my cold dead hands.” The post sparked numerous similar responses, with others expressing nostalgia for their preferred fashion items. One person admitted, “This is how I know I’m getting old because I unironically think ‘kids these days wear their pants too baggy and too low.'”
