Chanel’s commitment to fostering dialogue about art, fashion, and cinema was on full display during its events surrounding the Cruise 2024-25 fashion show in Hong Kong on November 5. The house hosted a series of discussions under the banners Radio Chanel, The Chanel Talk, and Hong Kong Frames, bringing together global and local icons from diverse creative fields to explore the cultural impact of their work.

A Celebration of Hong Kong Cinema

The Hong Kong Frames event, held at the iconic Shaw Studios—a historic site for film production—served as a backdrop for discussions on the city’s rich cinematic legacy. Journalist Clarence Tsui moderated a conversation with director Audrey Diwan and actress-model Angela Yuen, who collaborated on a short film, Modern Flirt, created specifically for Chanel’s Hong Kong show.

Production designer William Chang Suk-ping and director Norris Wong also joined the panel, sharing insights on their experiences in Hong Kong’s evolving film industry. The conversation touched on the influence of both established legends and emerging talent in shaping the city’s contemporary cinematic landscape.

The Chanel Talk Inspires Creative Minds

On the morning of the fashion show, Chanel hosted The Chanel Talk at the Hong Kong Design Institute, bringing together over 550 students from the city’s art, fashion, and design schools. Chanel President Bruno Pavlovsky, ambassador Penélope Cruz, and other notable figures, including Diwan and Yuen, participated in a series of discussions moderated by Tyler Brûlé, founder of Monocle magazine.

The panelists discussed a wide range of topics, from Hong Kong’s thriving creative scene to the impact of travel on artistic inspiration. Students also contributed to the conversation, with two participants, Theo and Keith, sharing their experiences from the “Imagine an Elsewhere” exhibition. The exhibition, supported by Chanel, featured works from 35 students and will be open to the public at the Hong Kong Design Institute until December 31.

Radio Chanel Brings Together Global Creatives

Later, Radio Chanel, a gathering of cultural figures and tastemakers, offered an opportunity for deeper exploration of creativity. Hosted at the Hong Kong Design Institute, the session featured Chanel ambassador Caroline de Maigret, journalist Géraldine Sarratia, and DJ Wong Chi-chung, among others. The event encouraged audience members—artists, journalists, and creative personalities—to engage in lively discussions about the forces behind their creative processes.

Cultural icons such as Cruz, actress Whitney Peak, and director Diwan also took part in thought-provoking exchanges with local stars like Chow Yun-fat, Fala Chen, and model-actress Yuen. Chef ArChan Chan and Olympic swimmer Siobhan Haughey shared their unique perspectives, while the event featured performances by singers Moon Tang and Jay Fung.

Chanel’s events in Hong Kong underscored the brand’s dedication to nurturing the intersection of art, fashion, and culture, fostering meaningful conversations that resonate far beyond the runway.
