MONTECITO, Calif. — The 14th annual Fashion Show & Luncheon hosted by St. Vincent’s took place on Saturday at the Rosewood Miramar Beach, drawing a full crowd to its grand ballroom.

Emcee Drew Wakefield highlighted the significance of the event, urging attendees to contribute to the community. “What an opportunity today to make a difference, to sew financial seed right here in St. Vincent’s Santa Barbara, the longest active charity nonprofit in the greater Santa Barbara area since 1858,” Wakefield said. “This is for those who are less fortunate than most of us.”

The event began with a silent auction featuring holiday-themed gift baskets and a raffle offering prizes such as a Barbie doll, an air fryer, and a large candle. Volunteers, including students from Bishop Diego High School, helped organize the event and earned community service credits for their time.

The fashion show showcased both adults and children modeling outfits from LOU of Los Olivos and Wildflower Women. All proceeds from the event benefited St. Vincent’s Family Strengthening Program, which supports mothers and children in need.

Maria Gonzalez, the guest speaker, shared her inspiring personal story. After escaping an abusive relationship, Gonzalez is now in law school and has gained custody of her son, who also modeled in the fashion show. “I am proud to say the cycle has been broken. I can’t remember the last time I had a crying spell — you know, the kind where you can’t breathe, with tears running down your face. It’s been a long time,” Gonzalez said.

In addition, St. Vincent’s honored Claudio Lash and Pat Lupo for their contributions, unveiling a new garden named in their honor.

Wakefield encouraged attendees to “adopt a family” by donating to St. Vincent’s programs, which help mothers and children in need.

Sponsors of the event included American Riviera Bank, Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation, Emma Rose Flowers, Newcomers for volunteering, and Rosewood Miramar Beach.

The public is also invited to St. Vincent’s “Handmade Crafts & Jewelry Winter Sale” on December 5 and 6. The event will take place in the Founder’s Room at St. Vincent’s, located at 4200 Calle Real, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
