United Talent Agency (UTA) has signed Jonathan Anderson, the renowned fashion designer and creative director for Loewe, for representation. The move comes as Anderson extends his creative influence into costume design, collaborating this year with filmmaker Luca Guadagnino on the films *Challengers* and *Queer*.
In *Challengers*, Anderson’s costume design played a key role in shaping the character of Patrick, portrayed by Josh O’Connor. The film follows Patrick, a tennis player vying for the attention of Tashi (Zendaya), who is seen wearing a pair of purple shorts while living out of his car. O’Connor commented on the shorts, saying, “As Josh, I would have felt so deeply uncomfortable with them. First of all, the size. He probably had those shorts from when he was, like, 14. He doesn’t mind if it’s a bit revealing — he doesn’t give a shit.”
Anderson also designed another iconic look for Patrick: a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase “I TOLD YA,” a near replica of a shirt worn by John F. Kennedy Jr. in the ’90s. This design, which references the “I TOLD YOU SO” buttons from JFK’s 1961 inauguration, was released as a limited edition by Loewe and quickly became a coveted item.
Blair Kohan, a UTA board member and partner, expressed excitement about the agency’s new partnership with Anderson, stating, “We are excited and honored to welcome Jonathan to UTA. He is a gifted designer whose visionary work has shaped fashion and culture for over a decade. We look forward to supporting him as he expands his creative influence in all forms of storytelling, building on his already extraordinary success.”
Anderson, a native of Northern Ireland, founded his fashion label JW Anderson in 2008 at the age of 24. In 2013, luxury group LVMH acquired a minority stake in the brand and appointed him as creative director of the Spanish fashion house Loewe. Under his leadership, Loewe has transformed from a heritage brand into a global powerhouse.
Widely recognized for his innovative approach to fashion and branding, Anderson has garnered numerous accolades throughout his career. In 2024, he was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. For the second consecutive year, the British Fashion Council named him Designer of the Year, and in 2023, the CFDA honored him as International Designer of the Year. Earlier this year, Anderson served as an Honorary Chair of the Met Gala, which was sponsored by Loewe.
In addition to his fashion work, Anderson is a passionate art collector and serves as a trustee of the Victoria & Albert Museum. In 2016, he founded the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, which celebrates independent artisans across various fields, including ceramics, woodworking, and textile arts. Anderson has also curated high-profile collaborations, such as those with Studio Ghibli, Joe Brainard, and Lynda Benglis, and has organized exhibitions like *Disobedient Bodies* at The Hepworth Wakefield in 2017. This year, he curated *On Foot*, an exhibition presented in collaboration with Offer Waterman Gallery in London.
With his vast creative range, Anderson’s partnership with UTA signals a new chapter in his already storied career, as he expands his influence into new areas of creative storytelling.
