Bic, the well-known consumer goods company, has acquired Tangle Teezer, the British hairbrush maker famous for its colorful, ergonomic detangling tools. The acquisition, announced on Wednesday, was valued at £165 million ($210 million).
Founded in the UK in 2007, Tangle Teezer revolutionized the hairbrush industry with its patented plastic bristles and ergonomic design. The brand’s products are designed to reduce hair damage while detangling more effectively than traditional brushes.
In July 2021, Tangle Teezer was taken over by private equity firm Mayfair Equity Partners through a managed buyout. Since then, the brand has seen significant growth, doubling its earnings and increasing annual net sales to over $76 million. The United States has become Tangle Teezer’s largest and fastest-growing market.
Tangle Teezer’s vibrant, innovative products have continued to gain popularity worldwide, and the acquisition by Bic marks a new chapter for the company’s expansion.
