British footwear brand Clarks Originals has invited Martine Rose to serve as its first guest creative director and officially launched its third joint series “Coming Up Roses”. For the Spring/Summer 2025 series, the brand invited photographer Mariana Maltoni to shoot a unique set of image advertisements to showcase the new shoes. The models are local beachgoers, continuing Martine Rose’s consistent eclectic and playful aesthetic style.
Coinciding with the 200th anniversary of Clarks’ founding, this season’s “Coming Up Roses” series particularly emphasizes the brand’s expertise in shoemaking craftsmanship, showing handmade details through exposed structures and exaggerated silhouettes. At the same time, the series of works also continues Martine Rose’s design vocabulary that has been gradually established in Clarks’ footwear series, further expanding its style boundaries. This season brings a total of three new interpretations of classic shoe styles, including Derby, Heel and Torview.
The Derby is designed in brown and black, showing its versatile characteristics, and adds a sense of layering through details such as untrimmed outsoles and central stitching. As the newest shoe in the Clarks series, Torview has a sleek narrow silhouette, and the creases on the toe and heel emphasize the lines. As for the bolder female style Heel, it adopts a square toe design and is equipped with a stacked heel made of multiple layers of leather, showing a strong visual impact.
The Clarks x Martine Rose 2025 Spring and Summer joint series “Coming Up Roses” will be exclusively available on the Martine Rose official website and Clarks official website on March 31.
